1. If you found out that the rack is faulty (traces of leak of working liquid on its surface, breakage or sag of a spring, loss of efficiency of clearing of fluctuations), it should be sorted and repaired. Racks in itself are not subject to repair and at an exit from costing to the shock-absorber them it is necessary to change, but to replace springs, and components having relation to them, it is necessary in pairs (on both sides of the car). 2. Remove a rack (address the Section Removal and installation of a forward support), place it on a workbench and clamp in a vice. Remove all dirt from its surface.
3. Squeeze a spring by means of a stripper, having completely taken off pressure of a plate. Reliably fix a stripper on a spring (follow instructions of the producer of a stripper). |
4. Holding a shock-absorber rod from a provorachivaniye with a key a hexagon, turn off a nut of fastening of a rod. |
5. Remove the top support with the basic bearing, then a plate springs, a spring, a cover and a chipper. 6. If you are going to establish a new spring, accurately remove a stripper from an old spring. If you are going to establish an old spring, to delete a stripper there is no need. 7. After you completely sorted a rack, attentively examine all its components. The basic bearing has to rotate freely. At detection of wear tracks and damages any the component them should be replaced. 8. Examine a surface of the rack. On it there should not be traces of working liquid. Examine a shock-absorber rod surface. On it there should not be traces of corrosion and damages. Put a rack vertically and check its working capacity, feats a shock-absorber rod at first from an emphasis against the stop, then the short movements on 50-100 mm. In both cases movement of a rod has to be uniform. At emergence of breakthroughs or jammings, and also at any other signs of malfunction the rack should be replaced.
9. Installation is carried out in the return sequence. Keep in mind the following:
a) Establish a spring on a rack, having tracked that it reached the correct position on the lower cup. b) Correctly install the basic bearing. c) Tighten a nut of fastening of the basic bearing, having made the required effort. d) Springs should be established so that the tags applied on them were focused down. |
