Replacement of the rechargeable battery Do not weaken and do not remove cables of the rechargeable battery on the working engine. Otherwise electronic elements can be damaged (for example, the generator).

Owing to shutdown of the rechargeable battery the data given in blocks of electronic memory of the car, for example, in memories of malfunctions of the engine, the radio receiver code protecting it from theft or the programs introduced in memory of the radio receiver are lost. Therefore it is previously necessary to find out and write down a code. Otherwise it will be possible to restore operation of the radio receiver only with the help HUNDRED MERCEDES-BENZS or the manufacturer. |

From the middle of 2002 MERCEDES-BENZ does not supply radio receivers with codes since electronics of the car identifies the radio receiver after connection of the rechargeable battery.
Not to lose the kept data, it is possible to connect the auxiliary power supply. Before shutdown of the rechargeable battery attach it to the lighter according to the instruction of the manufacturer. |
Removal

|
1. Switch off everything electric consumers. Switch off ignition. Thus damages of electronic monitors are excluded.
2. Open a cowl. The rechargeable battery is on the party of the forward passenger under a box of the filter of air of salon.
Models with the TeleAid system: In order to avoid a discharge of the battery of emergency supply at the disconnected rechargeable battery of the car phone should be transferred to the mode (the separate "Operation manual on phone").
3. Remove a box of the filter of air of salon, address the Section Replacement of an Element of the Filter of Air of Salon / Coal of the filter of purification of air.
4. Disconnect battery cables, at first a negative, then positive cable.

Before a detachment of a positive cable it is necessary to uncover over the positive plug.
After a detachment of plugs of the rechargeable battery the key in the ignition switch does not turn any more, and the coulisse of AT remains blocked in situation "P". |
5. Turn off 2 nuts and remove a fastening plate at the battery basis.
6. Take out the battery from a motive compartment. |

Installation
|

|
1. Before installation smooth out to gloss of a pole of the battery. The wire brush from brass is suitable for this purpose.
2. Install into place the battery, a fastening plate at the basis of the battery and fix.
3. Before connection of the battery check that ignition and all consumers were switched off.
4. At first attach a positive cable to a positive pole (+), then a negative cable to a negative pole (-) of the rechargeable battery.

The wrong connection of the battery can cause serious damages of the generator and other electric devices. |
5. Grease with a thin layer of technical vaseline of the plug of cables and the rechargeable battery for protection against corrosion. Do not grease them before connection.
6. Put on a positive pole (+) a cover.
7. Install into place a box of the filter of air of salon, address the Section Replacement of an Element of the Filter of Air of Salon / Coal of the filter of purification of air.
8. After connection of the rechargeable battery it is necessary to carry out the following works:
· Installation of hours (Undressed the Multipurpose steering wheel, the universal display).
· A repeated adjustment of side glasses (Undressed Window regulators, the roof hatch).
· A repeated adjustment of the panoramic shifted roof panel / a sun-protection blind (Undressed Window regulators, the roof hatch).
· Repeated adjustment of the ESP system. For this purpose a steering wheel at the working engine turn from an emphasis against the stop.
· Adjustment of head restraints. |
